MAIN INGREDIENTS AND DOSAGE:  (per daily dose of 2 capsules)

  • Edge7 Move Formula: 900mg (contains L-Tyrosine, DL-Phenylalanine, L-Theanine)
  • Caffeine: 85mg
  • Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine HCL): 10mg (714% Reference Intake)

L-Tyrosine, further referred to as tyrosine, is an amino acid used by the body for making a number of essential proteins, including the neurotransmitters dopamine and norepinephrine. These play a major role in the “fight or flight” response to stressful conditions and are essential in maintaining normal mood2. By increasing levels of these neurotransmitters, intake of tyrosine has shown in scientific studies to have a variety of cognition-enhancing effects, especially during stress3. Tyrosine has also been shown4 to improve cognition decline in sleep-deprived individuals, who continued to perform well 3 hours after tyrosine supplementation, despite 24 hours of sleep deprivation.Similar improvements have been observed in cognitive performance of cadets after one week of intensive combat training5.Tyrosine also enhances working memory6 in subjects exposed to cold. There is also evidence that suggests it can elevate mood in depressed individuals7.

Similar to tyrosine, DL-phenylalanine, also referred to as phenylanine, is a precursor to the neurotransmitters dopamine and norepinephrine. In addition, it is involved in the synthesis of the neurotransmitter serotonin. Its effects on cognition are similar to those of tyrosine.Depletion of phenylalanine from the diet is associated with increased impulsive behavior due to dopamine deficiency8.Supplementation with phenylalanine may reduce such impulsive behavior and improve self-control. Oral administration of this amino acid also improves attention in individuals9 with attention deficit disorder.

L-Theanine, or theanine, is an amino acid commonly found in green tea. Research suggests that the combination of theanine with caffeine has positive effects on mood and cognition, which surpass the effects of caffeine or theanine alone10.Further research suggests theanine enhances mood and cognitive performance. It also improves reaction time and visual processing, and contributes to reduced mental fatigue11.

Research on caffeine and cognition dates back to 1820. It has been clinically shown to help improve alertness, concentration and performance, with one study notably showing the effects of caffeine to be superior to those of a nap in terms of boosting verbal, motor and perceptual memory12.By acting on adenosine receptors in the brain, caffeine promotes wakefulness and arousal13. Through a similar mechanism, it increases reaction time14.Furthermore, a recent scientific review found that caffeine improves attention across a wide range of simple and complex attention tests15. The concentration of caffeine in Edge7 Move is equivalent to approximately one single shot of espresso.

Vitamin B6, is a vitamin used by the body for a variety of functions. Several studies have found that it helps reduce anxiety.A review on the effects of various supplements concluded that the use of Vitamin B6, in combination with other vitamins and minerals, effectively reduces anxiety and stress16.Similarly, vitamin B6 is shown to reduce both psychological and physiological symptoms of irritability and anxiety17.
